COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Honors Physics is an intensive study into the physical
phenomena that govern the events that occur in the world
around us. Mathematical analysis and problem solving
approaches are emphasized. Laboratory exercises will require
students to apply knowledge to new situations and require them
to work in situations that require unique and imaginative
solutions. Honors Physics is intended for the serious student
with an interest in the sciences or science-related careers.
Topics discussed are mechanics, vectors, forces, gravity,
energy, thermodynamics, gas laws, waves, electromagnetism,
nuclear physics, and modern physics. It is recommended that all
students planning to take Physics Honors have an A in Algebra
II/Trig or completion of Pre-Calculus.
